MAC POSH PARADISE PAINT POTS & FALL COLOUR EMERALD DUSK PIGMENT

I bought these Paint Pots and the pigments about a few months ago. The Paint Pots are from MAC Posh Paradise Collection and the Pigment is from MAC Fall Colour Collection.

If you're not familiar with MAC, Paint Pots are their cream eyeshadows. I've bought a few of Paint Pot samples before & I quite like them. So, this time I bought the whole pots.

There are 8 new Limited Edition Paint Pots in this collection. All of them are pretty but I only got my hands on 3 of them.

Nubile is a pale peach with a glossy finish. Genuine Treasure is a taupe-bronze with gold glitters. Imaginary is a dark purple-y navy blue. I picked these 3 colours because they are the colours that I usually use for my every day makeup.

These Paint Pots are great as a base for powder eyeshadows or pigments to adhere to and to make the shadows last longer. They're also nice on its own as a lid colour.

L-R: Nubile, Imaginary, Genuine Treasure
Nubile & Imaginary are very pigmented. A little goes a long way. On the other hand, Genuine Treasure is very glittery & needs a lot of work to get the colour & the glitters to show on the lids. Still, it's a pretty colour.

L-R: Nubile, Imaginary, Genuine Treasure

When I first used Imaginary Paint Pot, I applied it on my lids without a primer, and Man!, it stained my lids like crazy. I ended up have to triple-cleanse my face. First with my Pond's Cold Cream. This cream has always been my HG Makeup Remover as it works like wonder on any waterproof eye makeup I've ever used but obviously not with Imaginary Paint Pot.  After Pond's Cold Cream, I used my Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. and Yes, I could still see the colour on my lids. At the end, I used my Neutrogena Deep Clean Foaming Cleanser when I was in the shower to finally got everything off. This kind of shows how long lasting these Paint Pots are (maybe a little bit tooooo long lasting :P)

After I decided to get these 3 Paint Pots, the SA showed me Pigments from their Fall Colour. There are very bright shades and some dark ones. The SA swatched 3 shades on my hand: Emerald Dusk, Blue Storm & Starless Night. I couldn't decide between Emerald Dusk & Starless Night (a dark purple with silver sparkles).

Emerald Dusk Pigment

I finally picked Emerald Dusk because Starless Night is very similar to Imaginary Paint Pot. Emerald Dusk is another one of the shades which is very hard to describe. It looks like green, grey and blue with a bit of silver. Yes! all of these in one shade. But I think that's why I like this colour because it's so unique.

Emerald Dusk Pigment

Pigments can be used dry or wet. I prefer to use this one dry. The reason is the same as with Imaginary Paint Pot. It stains my skin when use it wet. Emerald Dusk gives me a smoky eye that's not too dark or too harsh. Just enough for an every day soft sultry look.

Who Wants To Be a MISSHA's Reviewer?

A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from Hara from Missha New Zealand asking if I would like to participate in their "Who Wants To Be Missha Reviewer" programme. Well, why wouldn't I? Trying out new products is what I'm enjoyed doing especially if I can get my hands on some free samples.

OK, here's some information about this programme. It was started in mid-November when whoever wants to participate has to leave a comment on Missha NZ Facebook page. They will send out some samples for you to try for 5 days. After using the samples, leave your most honest review on their Facebook page.

My sample package turned up within a few working days after I told Hara I wanted to join the programme. In the package, I've received 4 x Time Revolution Wrinkle Cure Melting Rich Mask Cream (wow! that was a mouth full), 1 x Pure Revolution Excellent Exfoliater and 1 x information pamphlet. I'm not sure whether it was a mistake that there's only 4 of the Mask Cream. I thought I was supposed to receive 5 samples of the same product to try. On all the samples, there's no descriptions in English apart from the name of the product. I had to look on thier website for the "How To Use".

The first 4 days I used Time Revolution Wrinkle Cure Melting Rich Mask Cream. On the info pamphlet, it claims to nourishing, revitalizing, preventing wrinkles & loss of elasticity, and improving skin dullness & dryness. This cream has a white thick (almost solid) creamy consistency which makes me feel like it will be too heavy for my skin. I don't normally purchase a night cream (or any facial cream) that I feel it's too heavy for my face. However, after I rubbed the cream between my palms, the cream becomes lighter, smoother & easier to work with. The word "melting" from the name is there for a reason as the texture of the cream is melted when contacts with skin temperature.

It has a sweet floral scent which is not overpowering. I tend to be quite fussy about the scent of anything I use. But, to me, the scent of this cream is very pleasant. I  massaged the cream all over my face & neck for about 1 minute until I felt the cream starting to absorb into my skin. Then I padded the cream onto my skin as directed on the website. The cream felt thick & greasy on my face. After 5 minutes, it started to sink in & felt a lot less greasy. After 10 minutes, I could feel the cream became a thin layer which shielded my skin and would help stop the skin from losing its moisture, which I really like.

MISSHA Time Revolution Wrinkle Cure Melting Rich Mask Cream

After 4 nights of using the samples (I assumed that this product is to be used at night as the name says Rich Mask Cream), I don't see any dramatic change on my skin. I believe that it would need at least 10 days for any skincare product to really feel the difference (for my skin, anyway). Having said that, my face feels a lot softer but not much difference in term of anti-aging/wrinkles as it claims.

On the 5th night, I used Pure Revolution Excellent Exfoliater. I have to say that I was very impressed with this product. This product has the same scent as the cream. It has tiny little beads to "remove dead skin cells & impurities in deep pores".  After I removed my makeup, I gently massaged it all over my face for about a minute or so, then rinsed off with warm water. I can actually see that my skin is brighter after using the product as all the dead skin was exfoliated away, and revealed a fresh new layer underneath. My skin felt very soft and it didn't leave the skin feels tight or dry.

Well, I would definitely purchase Pure Revolution Excellent Exfoliater when I run out of my current facial scrubs (if not, very soon). As for Time Revolution Wrinkle Cure Melting Rich Mask Cream, at a full price of NZ$95  I'm not sure if I would purchase it. I would probably spend a bit more and buy Lancome Visionnaire. I would have to say that a 7-10 day testing period would give a much better result on how effective the product is.

MAC FABULOUSLY FESTIVE FACE KIT/WINTERCOOL

MAC Holiday 2011 Glitter and Ice  & Ice Parade was released in New Zealand on Monday 7th. I didn't wait long before hitting the store (early afternoon that day). I didn't think that I would end up buying anything. I looked at the collection earlier on Temptalia and nothing wow-ed me.

When I was the store, one of the bigger set caught my eyes as the colours in the eye/face palette is what I would normally wear. The Fabulously Festive Face Kit/Wintercool (NZ$142) comes with a Cremesheen Lipstick, a Lipglass, an eyeshadow/blush palette, 3 travel sized brushes and a clear plastic makeup case. I swatched the eye shadows and tried on the blush & the lipstick..and yes that voice in my head was telling me, "Nancy, you've got to have this set!!!"9

The palette comes in white sturdy plastic case with a mirror. It has a snow globe dome on the top which has sliver glitters inside. I think it's pretty cool. The 4 Eye shadows are on the top part which can be slide open for a blush underneath.

This palette is definitely not one of those palettes that everything inside is so tiny and you can't actually use them or they're not easy to get the products out. The total weight for 4 eye shadows in this palette is 6.4g, which is 1.6 g each. A MAC full-sized eye shadow has 1.5g. Let's think about it this way, MAC eyeshadow refill costs NZ$30 each, there's 4 of them here = NZ$120. This whole set is NZ$142. It's like buying the palette and half the Lipglass, and the rest you get them for FREE. What a bargain!!

The shades are (L-R, T-B) Phloof!, a shimmery beige. Brun, a chocolate brown with satin finish. Quarry, this is a tricky colour to describe. It's a mix of taupe, purple & brown. MAC describes it as "a soft muted plum-brown". Dance In The Dark, a satin dark brown. It's a  limited edition shade. All 4 colours work together very nicely. I have been using them a lot lately.

Mocha is a matte pinky plum blush. The pigmentation is excellent. A little goes a long way.  Phloof!, Brun & Quarry eye shadows and Mocha Powder Blush are MAC permanent colours. So if you miss out this palette or if you don't like all the shades, you can buy them individually later.

The three travel size brushes are 129SE, 266SE, and 275SE. 129 is a Powder/Blush Brush. 266 is a Small Angle Brush. 275 is a  Medium Angled Shading Brush. For those who are not familiar with MAC brushes, SE stands for Special Edition

I don't own many MAC brushes but I've noticed that these brushes are made in China not in France or Japan like MAC full size brushes. The SE brushes usually have shorter handle compare to normal size brush. Ideal for traveling or in your makeup case on-the-go.

These brushes have soft bristles but by touching the bristles, I think they are not as soft & good quality as the regular MAC brushes. They have clear silver glittery plastic handles with white imprint indicating the number of each brush. I haven't used the brushes yet. So I can't really say if they are good or bad.

As for the Hot gossip Lipstick, it comes in a white shinny plastic case. Cute! Just something different from the usual black MAC packaging.

It's a Cremesheen plummy-mauve pink lipstick. When I first looked at it, I thought it was a little bit to bright for me. But when I actually put it on, it came out mid tone pink just slightly darker than my natural lip colour. It has a frosted finish but not too much. I like it a lot. If I want a bit of colour to brighten up my look, I just put a thin layer on. But this lipstick can be built up for a more intense colour.

I understand why MAC put this shade in the set. It goes well as a natural pink lip for a smokey look from the palette. And, as a bold pink statement lipstick when you use the eye shadows for a neutral look.

Emancipation Lipglass is a light pink with shimmer. Look very pretty in the tube. I did try it at the store. It looks really plae on my skin tone. I think it would look great on paler skin or for someone who really like a pale nude look on their lips. This Lipglass will give a good shine & will tone the brightness of Hot Gossip when wearing them together.

Since I'm not a big fan of any kind of lipglosses, I'm planning to put this up on an online auction. Better in the hand of someone who will use it rather than sitting boringly in my makeup drawer for the rest of its life. Also, it means more money in my pocket to buy more pretty stuff hehehehe

Here's an everyday look I created using the palette & the lipstick.

Overall, this Holiday 2011 Exclusive Set is a great thing to grab if you're after an everyday makeup set or if you just start building up your makeup collection. NZ$142 seems a lot but I think it totally worth every cents.

Thanks for checking out this review.

KISS ME HEROINE MAKE MASCARAS

I've always been searching for that "perfect" mascara, aka "holy grail" mascara. I have very short & flat eyelashes with no volume whatsoever. So, what do I look for in a mascara? Well, first of all, length and a lot of it. Second would be an ability to hold curl. Since I normally spend time making sure my lashes have nice curl. I want to make sure that the curl stay with me all day (8 hrs+).

Even though, these are not "THE" perfect mascaras but so far, they're pretty close. Let me introduce, Kiss Me Heroine Make Mascaras....

Kiss Me Long & Curl                           Kiss Me Volume & Curl

I have no doubt that there's many good beauty products from Japan eg. Shiseido, Shu Uemura &  SK-II, etc. However, Japanese cosmetics seem to be expensive which has stopped me from buying them most of the time. Shiseido The Makeup Advance Volume Mascara is great. But, it's like they're great but there's something else out there that has the same/similar quality with a better-looking price tag.

I first bought Kiss Me Long & Curl mascara as I was convinced by a SA that these are the most popular mascaras in Japan right now. It was NZ$29.95 from one of the Japanese cosmetics stores in town. I was happy to come across a Japanese cosmetics that have a very reasonable price. It's similar to Maybelline The Falsies which is another one of my favourites. By looking at packaging, I assume that this brand is targeting younger customers and it's probably a drugstore brand similar to CoverGirl in the US. For me it doesn't matter whether who they're targeting, as long as they're good I would buy & use them.

The surprise came when I spotted Kiss Me Volume & Curl Mascara on Trade Me (strawberrypark) for ONLY $10. I think the reserve was $6 but I won the bid at $10. Not bad at all, right? Lucky! no body wanted to get it at the same time as me. $30 was for a lesson, never buy something unless you shop around first. Both packaging only have Japanese written on them, which can be a concern for someone, but me? Not at all. Word of mouth is better than what's written on the back of a package. The tubes is in maroon with gold print on them. Very simple!

Long & Curl

The Long & Curl version has a curvy brush which tapered at the tip. I like that it's an old-style plastic brush. I'm not really a fan of silicone brushes. It was a little bit too wet for me to start with, but after wiping the brush with tissue it's better. The size of the brush fits my lashes perfectly. The curvy shape makes it easy sweep through from the bottom of the lashes to the top. I can see lots of fibre in the product. That's why it gives good length to the lashes.

On the package doesn't say that it's waterproof but the SA told me that it is. It holds curl really really well. That would be the benefit from being a waterproof mascara. With good 2 coats, it gives me a very good length & thickness without clumps. The mascara lasts me all day (from 8.30am-7pm) & no smudge at all.

Volume & Curl

Kiss Me Volume & Curl mascara also has a plastic brush which thicker at both ends & thinner in the middle (as you can see in the photo above), also with a tapered tip. I only used this one once. The formula is very similar to the Long & Curl. I think the brush is what makes it's different. The bristles on this brush are more packed which is why it gives more volume to lashes. The pointed tip makes it easy to get into corners. This formula doesn't have much different compare to Long & Curl. I think most of the work is from the different shapes of brush.

However, both are pretty hard to wipe off at the end of the day. I usually double cleanse my skin: MAC Cleansing Wipes won't get it off in one wipe. The best removers for Kiss Me mascaras, for me, would be Ponds Cold Cream & Olive Oil. Just rub them gently around the eye areas, concentrating on the lashes. Then wipe it off with cotton balls/pads. I usually do this twice to make sure it's totally clean.

Another thing that I've noticed is that these mascaras don't feel soft on lashes. I guess it might be from wax which usually added in waterproof mascaras. That doesn't bother me.

They actually have their own Mascara Remover. I didn't buy it cos they don't have it at strawberrypark on Trade Me. Besides, I think it's unnecessary & expensive. Olive Oil & Cold Cream are doing fine for me.

HAUL: LUSH PRODUCTS

I bought these LUSH products in two separate occasions. First, I got a Bubblegum Lip Scrub & a Strawberry Feels Forever Message Bar. Then, I went back a couple of weeks ago and got a 100g. block of Trichomania Solid Shampoo.

Out of the 3, I think I like Trichomania Solid Shampoo the most. It smells of coconut with a little of vanilla at the background. Every time I visit LUSH store, I always walk pass this shampoo bars section as they don't seem to buy me the idea. I thought they were just blocks of soap like they have in the store. And, why would I want to wash my hair with soap?

I have to say that I was surprised by the way this product works on my hair. It lathers very well and I feel that it's gentle enough for my daily wash. Although, it leaves the squeaky clean feeling to my hair but it doesn't bother me. Others might find that this product a little bit too hush for their hair. I use hair products almost everyday. So personally, I like my hair to feel really clean after a wash. That way I know that there's no build-up.

However, I don't use this shampoo everyday. I feel that it makes my hair feeling too dry if I use it every single day. I usually switch between my Head & Shoulders and this. I have a very sensitive scalp & can't experience much on shampoo & conditioner. Everything I've tried gives me bad dandruff afterward. I was glad that this LUSH shampoo haven't given me any reaction .... yet! (Fingers cross)

On to this delicious Bubblegum Suagr Lip Scrub. This Lip Scrub comes in 3 flavours: Bubblegum, Mint Julip & Sweet Lip (Vanilla & Chocolate). I picked this one because I like the colour and the smell of it. The product does exactly what it says "Lip Scrub" and it's very good at that. I use this product about 2-3 times a week or whenever I can see those white dry skin appears on my lips. I also use this lip scrub for prepping your lips on the day I'm going to wear a nude lip.

I've seen people complain about this product being a rip-off. The reason is the ingredients which mainly are sugar and oil. Something that everyone usually has in the pantry but LUSH put them in a jar and sell them ridiculously overpriced for what it is. But hey, if you look at the ingredients and still buying it, so that's your choice and why complaining. On the other hand, if you see what's in there and didn't buy, but whinging about it. Why did you whinge about that, anyway?

Last item is Strawberry Feels Forever Massage Bar. The smell and the shape of this massage is what caught my eye. This soft sweet strawberry scent makes me smile everytime I rub in on my skin. It smells delicious. The shape fits my hand perfectly which makes it very easy to apply on my skin.  I use it as a body lotion after my night shower. I don't use this in the morning as I don't feel like wearing strawberry scent during the day. I prefer to have a scent from my perfume rather than from my body lotion. You know what I mean, right?

I keep my massage bar in the fridge as my apartment gets really warm during the day even in winter. I don't like picking up the bar and feel that it's already melted before I touch it. I like to warm the bar with my body heat by placing them between my palms to soften then rub the bar over my body. This way it glides on very easily and smoothly. It absorbs into the skin quickly and doesn't leave any sticky or greasy feeling. After an hour or so, I notice that there's still a thin layer of the product on my body but I don't feel that it's there. I can tell that it will moisturise my skin for hours after I apply and all through the night.

What LUSH products are you using at the moment (or in the past)? Please share it with me. I love it try out new things and your suggestions and advice are truly appreciated :)

**ME & LUSH**

The strong scent from LUSH store used to irritate me. So I didn't like going in there very often. I never lasted long in the store as the smell made me headache. The only thing I've ever bought from LUSH was their Creamy Candy Bubble Bar (and I liked it a lot). I didn't find anything very special about their products apart from being fresh & natural. The packaging never buy me, plain black containers that look cheap never caught my attention. Well, things have changed over the years. I'm more toward natural ingredients these days. That's why I've started to get excited with LUSH again. So far I've been disappointed with any products I bought which is always a good start of a relationship with my skincare products :)
